Nesting in March

It has been a busy few weeks.

My sister got married two weeks ago!!! She was the most gorgeous bride ever and had the most beautiful sunny winter day.  This is our traditional sister picture we have been doing since we were little.

The boys looked dapper too!

We are very much in spring mode over here and ready for March Madness and St Patrick’s Day this week.

Here are some of my favorite recipes for St. Patrick’s Day

Lucky Leprechaun Bait – Kids and adults go crazy for this snack mix. Click here for the recipe.

My homemade Irish Cream – I usually make this for friends around the holidays but didn’t have time this past year so making it this weekend for St. Patrick’s Day for all my Irish (and pretend Irish) friends 😉 You can get the recipe here. 

Reuben Nachos – If you love a good reuben, then you’ve got to try these Irish nachos. Here’s the recipe. 

Lucky Charms coffee – I thought this was a fun spin on your St. Patrick’s Day brew. Here’s the recipe below

Ingredients

• 1 cup strong brewed coffee (chilled)

• ½ cup milk (whole milk, oat milk, or almond milk)

• 1–2 tbsp vanilla syrup or simple syrup

• Ice

• ½ cup whipped cream

• 2–3 tbsp Lucky Charms cereal (mostly marshmallows if possible)

Optional extras:

• 1 tbsp sweetened condensed milk (for extra creaminess)

• Crushed cereal pieces for topping

Instructions

1️⃣ Brew the coffee
Make a strong cup of coffee and let it cool (or use cold brew).

2️⃣ Fill the glass
Add ice to a tall glass.

3️⃣ Mix the drink
Pour in:

• 1 cup chilled coffee

• ½ cup milk

• Vanilla syrup
  Stir well.

4️⃣ Add whipped cream
Top generously with whipped cream.

5️⃣ Add the cereal topping
Sprinkle Lucky Charms marshmallows and crushed cereal on top.

What I’ve been watching

Scarpetta – This features Nicole Kidman as the lead Kay Scarpetta, a chief medical examiner who is trying to solve a serial killer case. You can watch this on Prime. Also, Jamie Lee Curtis is hysterical in this and Bobby Cannavale is some nice eye candy.

Love Story – I have always been fascinated by the Kennedys and low key had a crush on JFK Jr when I was younger. You can stream this series on Hulu or Disney Plus.

Nesting on this snowy day in January.

We are in full winter storm warning over here and the homebody in me has been waiting for this. I’ve got my stack of books ready to go, my snacks, the fireplace is roaring, and I’m ready for a cozy day or two.

It was a beautiful day yesterday celebrating my baby sister’s bridal shower.  Isn’t she gorgeous?

The theme was “Snow in Love” and it was the perfect weekend for it, the weather got the memo.

My mom got my sisters and I these matching jackets and you will not believe where they are from! I will link them here.

And we’re hoping for a snow day tomorrow because we could definitely  use an extra day 🙂

What I’m watching and reading:

The Pitt. Oh my gosh! If you are looking for a new series to get hooked on you have to watch The Pitt.  The whole season takes place over one shift in a bustling Philadelphia ER. As a nurse, I am obsessed but even Rick loves it too. It’s become our favorite show to watch together. The characters are just so well done. You can stream it on HBO Max.

His and Hers. This was a very twisty thriller you can binge in one sitting. It’s created after the Alice Feeney book, His and Hers and is streaming on Netflix. And omg I never knew who Jon Bernthal was before this, and wow, he’s my new crush.

Traitors. This is a reality game show on Peacock and while I’ve never really gotten into it, I am loving this latest season. The cast is perfection. Donna Kelce, Lisa Rinna, Dorinda Medley, Tara Lipinski (who was my idol as a figure skater growing up), are all in this season competing against each other.

Half His Age – This book is one of the most anticipated new releases of the year. It just came out this week so I just started it! It’s juicy, scandalous and a little bit uncomfortable.

Latest Amazon Finds

These were last week’s best seller. My son has them and they are all the rage at school. 

These non candy class Valentine ideas for the kids. 

I’m trying not to buy things just because but I saw this top and to get it just because.

My dress for my sister’s shower was a last minute Amazon buy. It comes in so many colors. I am wearing “coffee”.

Nesting on this last Sunday in November.

(If you are new here, this is a little segment I started a few years ago where I share random things of what’s been happening, what I’m watching, reading, eating, etc and finds to inspire you). 

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Who is still eating leftovers?

Last weekend we went to Kingston to celebrate my sister’s bachelorette. We stayed at this cute place called Hutton Brickyards and rented the cottage. It was a weekend full of relaxation, vintage shopping, candle making, and just quality time.

For sure the highlight was their wooden barrel saunas.

Now it’s time to plan her bridal shower!!

My Christmas cards are ordered and going out this week. I think  this is the first year I’ve ever been this on top of it.

What I’ve been watching and reading.

To be honest it’s been a lot of Harry Potter since that’s what I’m reading with my oldest.  I never got into Harry Potter when I was younger and I’m having fun experiencing the story with him.

But I just found this festive read, The Winter Visitor by B.P. Walter,  and I’m going to start it today on my kindle. It’s free if you have Kindle Unlimited!

I’m also currently bingeing season 2 and 3 of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives as well as Real Housewives!

Currently loving

This fragrance combo. The Eos vanilla cashmere lotion has been my favorite for a year now and it smells so good. I recently started layering it with this Rebecca Minkoff spray and it’s the perfect sexy, feminine scent for winter. Linking them here.

Magnesium! Don’t ask me why it’s taken me this long to hop on the Magnesium train, but 2 of these and my Sleepytime tea every evening and it’s lights out!

This meal. I just made these tuscan chicken meatballs with gnocchi last night and Rick said, “where has this dinner been?” The whole family loved it.

The first Nesting of October.

Random thoughts on this first Sunday of October.

1.) Why do people make a big deal of leaf cleanup if the leaves are just going to decompose and turn into soil anyway?

2.) I need to eat a vegetable today. This weekend has been full of celebrations with all the drinks and decadent foods.

3.) Is Taylor going to take a break after the release of The Life of a Showgirl? After listening to her new album, I think mother is ready for her wife and mother era don’t you? And also, I can’t help thinking that this album is far from the deep, gutting poetry we are used to from Taylor.  It feels like Travis wrote these lyrics with a crayon. But our girl is happy and I love that for her.

The First Witch of Boston by Andrea Catalano – I finished this book in 2 days.  It is a great pick for the start of fall. This historical fiction read tells the story of women and witches during the puritan era in Massachusetts.

Monster: The Ed Gein Story on Netflix – Ryan Murphy is back with his Monster anthology series and this one tells the story of serial killer and grave robber Ed Gein I had never heard of Gein before but this series is disturbing, dark and I can’t stop watching.
