Random thoughts on this Saturday fall morning-

What a week! We celebrated Dude Man’s 5th birthday all week long! I made this double layered sprinkle cake and let me tell you, it was worth every bite of deliciousness. But all that partying has me tired. I’m ready to just kick back this weekend.

Season 3 of You is finally out on Netflix! And if you’re looking for more spooky themed shows/movies to watch, “Halloween Kills” is out on Peacock.

You know those flashy holiday yard inflatables? I always swore I would never get one and the kids wore me down. Meet “Ghosty”. (He’s linked in this week’s “5 Things I Bought Friday”). The kids are already asking what we’re gonna buy for Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas, people are already starting their holiday shopping and I’m just not ready yet. Maybe once we get through Halloween.

It was a busy week on the blog!

Hometalk featured my DIY whitewashed brick fireplace from a few years ago. This is the DIY that sparked our passion for DIYs. Whitewashing out fireplace was the very first project we ever did in our first home. After seeing how easy it was and the transformation, we soon set out on more DIY projects together.

Foodtalk featured my Apple Cinnamon French Toast Casserole recipe.

Fall front porch

Random thoughts on this chilly October morning…

We started decorating our house for Halloween this week. We got our pumpkins for our front porch and this year I’m really feeling the potted kale/cabbage look.

The bats also made their appearance again as well. (If you missed Your Top Purchases of September, I’ve linked them in there!)

We have yet to bust out Bob Skellington (those of you have been following for awhile know who he is) but we did get him a little companion this year. You will meet him next week.

One of the highlights from this week – Britney is officially free!!!!

I’ve been completely sucked in by the Gabby Pettito case. Can we all just find Brian Laundrie already?

When I’m not watching the news or HLN this is what I’ve been watching:

“Impeachment: American Crime Story” all about the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal. I’m not a huge history buff but it’s really interesting. I will say though you really have to pay attention because it’s somewhat hard to follow. It stars Sarah Paulson who I just love.

I’ve also been watching the newest “American Horror Story” which features her as well. It takes place in Provincetown, Mass and I think is much better than some of the other more recent seasons.

If you loved “The Haunting of Hill House” and “The Haunting of Bly Manor” on Netflix, a new show was just released by the same director. It’s called “Midnight Mass” and jury is still out on how I feel about it.

It’s officially spooky month and my favorite month ever!!!! Besides Halloween, its the perfect excuse to wear comfy sweaters, eat cozy foods and cuddle up on the couch. I’ve got a round up of some of my favorite Halloween ideas saved to a highlight on my Instagram!

This  Easy Sheet Pan Dinner is one of my favorite fall meals! Tons of comforting flavors perfect for a busy weeknight.

Nesting whitewashed brick exterior limestone

Random thoughts on a sunny September Saturday morning.

The kids finished their first week in their new classrooms. Somehow, this time next year I will have a kindegartener. I hope all of your kids and you parents are adjusting. I have loved seeing everyone’s back to school photos. It is my absolute favorite. It’s crazy how fast these kids grow.

This week I shared a new recipe for my Pumpkin Spice Snack Mix. It’s a great after school snack or if you’re just craving something sweet and salty.

Another great back to school snack or healthy dessert idea are my Banana Split Apple Nachos.

Speaking of apples, I think we’re going to go apple picking this weekend. It’s my absolute favorite thing to do in fall.

If you’re looking for a good chill playlist, ask Alexa to play “Acoustic Covers”. You’re welcome 🙂

Tula just launched their lip care trio and it’s soooo good! Three different shades to give you a hint of color while hydrating and smoothing your lips. This weekend through Monday 9/13, you can get free shipping + 15% off when you use my code OURTINYNEST on your orders.

I published a new segment of “5 Things I Bought Friday” yesterday. If you missed it click here.

This weekend is 1 year that we whitewashed our exterior brick and it is still one of my favorite projects to date!

Here’s the before –

And the after –

Rick used Sherwin Williams white exterior paint and mixed 1 part paint with 2 parts water to give it the whitewashed look. It’s held up well! This spring we’re looking forward to re-doing our driveway and front porch.

I hope you all have a beautiful weekend!
