Nesting on this last Sunday in November.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and time with their family and friends.

We spent the past few days getting our Christmas shopping done and decorating for Christmas.

Do you do a themed tree or have a color scheme you like to stick to when decorating your tree? Or do you have a variety of sentimental ornaments you collect over the years?

This year I did a little upgrade when decorating our tree. Instead of using those hooks to hang your ornaments, I used ribbon. I chose a burgundy and navy blue color and tied ribbons on the ornaments to hang them instead. It looks so pretty and really elevates it a little bit.

Nesting - Christmas tree decor idea. Ornament hack. Use ribbon to hang ornaments on tree.

I’m showing you all the details here.

Every year, when we decorate out front, I also do a little something to thank all the delivery drivers who work so hard to deliver our packages and groceries. I usually fill a little crate with some beverages and snacks for them to take when they drop off our packages and groceries. I made a cute little sign to add too.

Nesting on this first weekend in November.

Happy Daylight Savings. I hope you all enjoy your extra hour today whether it be getting an extra hour of sleep, having a cup of coffee in peace, spending time with family or friends, or maybe tackling that one thing that’s been on your to do list and you just haven’t had the time.

In fact as I write this, Rick and the kids are all still sleeping so it’s just me, Miss Lola Mae, my big cuppa and the glow of the Christmas lights. It’s glorious.

Yes you heard that right. I made Rick put up our tree yesterday. It’s not decorated yet but she’s up in all her glory and I’m feeling festive. Have you put up your tree yet?

In fact Mav made me so proud. We were literally walking door to door trick or treating and he said to me “so mommy, does that mean we can put up our tree tomorrow?” He takes after his mama 🙂

I know it’s been a busy few weeks between Halloween, all the events and parties.

Here’s what’s been happening lately on the blog:

Nesting on this rainy October Sunday.

It has been a busy few weeks between our older son’s 7th birthday, school functions and all the Halloween things.

Rick and I always swore we would never let the kids have video games. Well for lucky number 7, we gifted our oldest a PlayStation 5. To see the expression on his face and the tears of joy when he opened it was totally worth it. Throughout the week, I found myself sitting down on the couch with him playing Madden and The Show. I enjoyed getting a friendly competition going and spending time with my son and sharing his love of sports. I learned a very important lesson this week. It doesn’t always have to be all or nothing. I am like this with alot of things in life. Either being super strict with my eating or bingeing, really trying to save money or spending frivolously. Things don’t always have to be one extreme or the other. We can set healthy boundaries and enjoy our guilty pleasures. So my inspiration to you this week is to incorporate a healthy balance!

We had a Halloween party last night and the kids had a blast. But I think Rick and I had more fun. Clearly I am rooting for Team Swelce and am going to be devastated if this doesn’t end all too well.
