Nesting on this subzero January morning-

I’m over here drinking my coffee pretending I’m lounging on a cabana in sunny Riviera Maya. Who’s with me?

But if the cold is your thing and you’re local to the Upstate area, The Ice Castles in Lake George open tomorrow! Tickets are on sale now! We went a few years ago to the New Hampshire location and it was beautiful – read about it here! Looking forward to visiting the NY one soon!

I finished the first book on my 2022 reading list, The Midwife’s Secret. I shared my reviews over in my Instagram stories. I’ll be saving them all to a highlight so you can go back and reference whenever you want. Now I’m starting Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover.

Have you guys heard of Wordle? One of you guys shared it with me and now I’m hooked! You have to wait 24 hours for a new game and it is addicting!

So many of you asked about this bag this week. Linking it here!

I shared this sweet and salty Valentine’s Popcorn recipe earlier this week. The boys are popcorn addicts and it quickly disappeared out of the bowl. But it would be a great treat for Valentine’s Day parties or just to munch on at home.

And if you’ve already started planning for Valentine’s Day, I shared these 9 Valentines Day card ideas on Amazon. In the past I’ve made some but this year I’m just not feeling it. Amazon’s got some really cute ones so go check them out!

Nesting

The first “Nesting” of 2022. So get a cup of your favorite warm beverage and cozy up.

Alexa told me this morning it’s 9 degrees, yikes!

We’re 8 days into 2022 and it feels like we’re getting off to a rough start if I’m being honest. This year I didn’t really have the energy to make resolutions or choose a word. This year my intentions are just to read more books, keep my family healthy and be a better mom and wife. And I’m perfectly ok with that.

My 2022 Vibe

my 2022 vibe

Speaking of books, I made a list of 22 books I want to read in 2022. You can see them all here. Because there’s nothing better than getting lost in a book.

For breakfast this morning I’m making banana bread french toast. My homemade banana bread is a favorite and super easy to make. Also, with the pandemic, are we going to go back to making homemade bread again? Here’s the recipe.

We woke up to snow yesterday. Thinking of maybe taking the kids sledding this weekend. How cute is this inflatable tobaggan?

Another fun thing we like to do when we get fresh snow is make snow ice cream. We’ve been making it for a few years now. Click here for the recipe.

This week I started watching “Yellowjackets” on Showtime. It tells the story of a high school girl’s soccer team that’s stranded when their plane crashes and their lives 25 years later as people want to know about what truly happened. I just started episode 7 and it’s getting pretty creepy!

We also rented Sing 2 for our Friday Pizza Picnic. It is sooo cute and I’m obsessed with the soundtrack! My favorite is the new version of “I Say a Little Prayer For You” by Tori Kelley and Pharrell. You can hear it here.

In case you missed it, this week I re-opened my Etsy shop now that the holidays are over. If you’re looking for a customized gift or personalized piece of decor, go and take a look. I’d love to create something for you!

Nesting and my random thoughts on this first cold December Saturday.

Scroll down for this week’s Nesting.

I can’t believe we’re already in December and Christmas will be here soon! I ordered my Christmas cards the other day for same day pickup. I got all excited thinking I was ahead of the game this year and then realized they didn’t come with envelopes lol. So if you’re on my Christmas card list, know that they’re coming 🙂

Who was in your Spotify Top 5? Obviously Tay Tay was in mine but my #1 was Vitamin String Quartet. Thank you Bridgerton for that! VSQ was on the soundtrack and I became obsessed!

As all of your Amazon and Christmas orders start piling up on your doorstep, be sure to show some love to all of your delivery drivers and postal workers. Click here to see my easy way to show some extra love to all those working tirelessly this season to deliver our packages.

Have you started your holiday baking? I recently made these Boozy Chocolate Hazelnut Truffles and they are amazing!!! Click here for the recipe and 6 other Christmas cookie recipes!

The other day in the my Instagram stories, someone asked for a comfortable loungewear recommendation. I recently got this set and it is ridiculously cozy! It does run a bit larger so size down one unless you prefer a looser fit.

This week’s DIY was these super easy dried orange slice ornaments. I’ve been making dried oranges for Christmas decor for years. I love them in garlands, wreaths, as ornaments or to use to wrap presents. Sharing my DIY here!

I’m working on some fun holiday inspired cocktails for your holiday celebrations. I recently shared this recipe for my dairy free chocolate hazelnut liqueur. It tastes just like nutella. You can drink warm as a boozy hot chocolate, serve over ice for a chocolate hazelnut martini (that’s what my mom did and she said it was delish!) or add into your coffee.

Weekly meal planning will resume next year – putting on hold for now since I’m sharing all the holiday things!

Hope your week is fabulous friends!

Coming to you another Saturday morning from the ice rink –

That’s right. We were up at 6am shuffling the kids to hockey practice. They love it though. And I enjoy sitting here with my coffee wrapped up in a blanket watching them. I used to figure skate when I was younger and have so many memories of being at the ice rink on the weekends and then going home and warming up with some hot chocolate.

Speaking of warm beverages, my latest coffee obsession is frothing my Oatmeal Cookie Creamer and a dash of cinnamon into my morning cup of joe. It’s the best way to start your day. See how I make it here. (And if you don’t have a frother, it is a GAME CHANGER! Best $11 ever spent. Linking it here).

12 days until Thanksgiving and 41 until Christmas but who’s counting? Have you guys put up your tree yet? Last year our tree went up the day after Halloween. This year, I haven’t been as motivated. I’m trying to savor every moment rather than rush it. I think it’s easy this time of year to get caught up in the hustle and bustle, I’m guilty of it too. I’m trying to be more mindful and focus more on enjoying every experience and memory with the kids. They love this time of year and it’s so magical now as a parent.

This past week, I finally got up all of the gift guides on the blog. If you haven’t seen them yet, I’ve linked them below.

This week I also rolled out this year’s Community Giving Project. It was something that I started last year as a way to give back to one of the families in this online community. Honestly, I think sometimes social media can get a bad rap and this is a positive way that everyone can come together and do some good. This year I went through the nominations and chose a family whom I know personally and is local to the Albany area. You can read more about their story and if you feel called to contribute I know they would be forever grateful.

Next week I’ve got lots of yummy Thanksgiving recipes and turkey day ideas coming your way so stay tuned!

I hope you have a great weekend! Subscribers be sure to check your inbox tomorrow morning for this week’s meal plan!
