Nesting on this colorful Saturday in October.

It’s peak leaf season here, the colors are so vibrant. The most beautiful time of year, although short.

There was no nesting last weekend because we were away. We stayed overnight at a goat farm in a yurt. Remember when I went to the treehouse for my birthday? This time we stayed in the yurt and brought the boys. They had a blast jumping on the trampoline with the goats and they followed us on our morning hike. Truly a magical place. You can see a little about our trip here.

So if you finished Dahmer and are looking for something to curb your true crime hangover, you have to watch “A Friend of the Family” on Peacock. And because there won’t be any Nesting next weekend because we will be celebrating Dude Man’s birthday, here are few more to hold you over –

  • Conversations with a Serial Killer – The Dahmer Tapes (on Netflix now)
  • If you loved The Haunting of Hill House and Bly Manor, there’s a new one that just came out by Mike Flanagan called “The Midnight Club” (on Netflix now)
  • “The Watcher” based on a true story of a house in NJ comes out October 13th on Netflix. (by Ryan Murphy, the same guy who created American Horror Story and Dahmer so you know it will be amazing).
  • A new Unsolved Mysteries comes out October 18th on Netflix

This week was an exciting week on the blog:

First, I am happy to announce that I will be co-hosting a weekly Wednesday link party. A link party is basically one big blog post filled with recipes, decor ideas and DIYs from other bloggers on the web. It’s an amazing source of ideas and inspiration. This is a great opportunity for creators and bloggers to come and link up your posts and gain exposure from a new audience. I will be choosing my favorite 4-5 posts from the week before and featuring each week. I hope you will come check out the party every week! Click here for this week’s ๐Ÿ™‚

I made the most delicious apple pear fall sangria. And isn’t she beautiful? This is a great cocktail for Thanksgiving. I’ll link the recipe here so you can pin it or save it. The pitcher and some of these other decor pieces are part of a new subscription box I discovered. You can see more about it here.

Nesting on the first fall Saturday.

This past weekend my sister and I went to the Apple and Wine Fest. We go every year and have so much fun wine tasting and getting in the mood for fall.ย  If you’ve never tried wine from the Finger Lakes it typically is sweeter with that concord grape flavor. Very different from my usual dry Squealing Pig Sauvvy B.

Have you guys seen the viral butter boards? It’s basically a board slathered with delicious butter and herbs and things for dipping bread. Just google it and you will see them all.

So this may be TMI but we’re all friends here. This week I joined the bidet club and I am never going back. Seriously. Life changing ๐Ÿ™‚

True Crime fans if you have not seen Dahmer on Netflix, what are you doing with your life? Binge it this weekend! It is phenomenal and now I’m re-watching it for a second time. The acting is amazing, the soundtrack, everything.

Did you catch my latest recipe? It’s this easy sheet pan gnocchi with sausage and butternut squash. Literally so easy to make and such a comforting fall meal. Click here for my recipe.

I shared my Halloween Finds yesterday on the blog. There’s some really fun things including those 3-D bats that have been a favorite for the past 3 years. I am also obsessed with the skeleton wine glass.ย  You can see them all here.

This upcoming week I’m sharing some ideas for a Hocus Pocus watch party. I plan to make a beverage and I asked you guys in my IG stories if you wanted it to be kid friendly or just for the adults. After talking to a few of you I think I’m gonna have two versions, so stay tuned ๐Ÿ™‚

And now for some fun inspiration from some of my friends. There’s so many things that I loved this week!

This pumpkin ice bucket is perfect for your fall or Thanksgiving entertaining.

This outdoor jack-o-lantern topiary is sooo cute! You know I love a good topiary.

Jen made the sweetest pumpkin garland! I love it!

And last but certainly not least, this pumpkin tiered tray which would be perfect for all your fall treats.

Nesting on this beautiful Saturday morning in mid September.

Get yourself a cup of coffee, maybe my homemade pumpkin cold foam coffee, and enjoy some light reading and inspiration this weekend.

Whew, how was your week? It felt like a whirlwind here! I’m looking forward to doing some fun fall things with family and friends this weekend. And then I will be a baking machine! I signed up to be classroom parent and have some baking to do for Open House on Monday! I’m still not sure what I’m going to make yet. I’m sure it will be a last minute decision ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you listened to my Hot Girl Autumn playlist yet? Also can I just say, that I love making playlists. I wish that could be a job. Along with naming nail polish colors.

Who’s excited for the Hocus Pocus sequel? Some friends and I will be getting together to share some ideas for the most epic Hocus Pocus watch party in the next few weeks. But did you know that there is a Hocus Pocus coffee blend? I KNOW!!!

And now for some recipes, decor and inspiration from my friends on the web-

I am obsessed with this DIY bubbling cauldron from Aurelie Erikson. Perfect for Halloween!

These layered peanut butter fudge brownies are all I can think about thanks to Niky from the House at Silverado.

So if you don’t already follow my friend Heidi from Eleanor Rose Home she is one of my favorites. Not only did she DIY these really pretty decoupage pumpkins, but she is also a finalist in the Cottages and Bungalows Brand Ambassador Contest. You can vote here! We’re rooting for you Heidi!

How delicious does this apple walnut bundt cake look from Cindy at Mornings on Macedonia? I think I need this with my afternoon coffee.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Nesting on this 80 degree day in September.

So it happened. My baby Dude Man started kindergarten this week. He made us so proud. His week was so action packed he fell asleep on the bus on the way home yesterday.

Now that school is back in full swing, if you’re looking for some easy meal ideas, check these out! I even have a quick recipe for sheet pan breakfast sandwiches.

What I watched this week – lets see, I finished Virgin River and I’ve been binging old episodes of Gilmore Girls on Netflix. I never watched it while it was on the air but it’s kind of cute. Also if you’re looking for a suspenseful or creepy show, we’ve been watching The Devil in Ohio on Netflix.

On the blog and in my Instagram stories this week we talked about:

My pumpkin spice snack mix. It was such a hit last year and the perfect combo of sweet and salty.

I also shared this easy fallย  centerpiece idea with things you probably already have at home.

How to create an easy fall table centerpiece

You know when you’re driving and that song comes on from your youth that you used to belt out and you start reminiscing and going down memory lane? Well for me it was hearing “Never Ever” by the All Saints and it inspired me to put together this Throwback playlist on Spotify. I collected some of your favorites too! I’m sharing it here if you’d like to reminisce about the 90s and early 2000’s.

And drumroll please… announcing the winner of our Summer Reading Challenge –

So many of you participated and either rediscovered your love of reading or discovered a new love. That makes me so happy because that was my goal! Our winner though is Chantal Intonte @chantalintonte who completed the cover all and read an impressive 26 books!I hope you all enjoyed the challenge and I’m thinking of doing something similar to get us through the long winter months, what do you think?

And now for some inspiration from some of my friends.

You’ve seen those Pottery Barn dupes with the terracotta pumpkins by now. But how about the same concept but as a glowing pumpkin garland? I just discovered Ann from @Rekindleddsigns and this DIY is probably my fave of the week!

Another one of my favorites that I recently started following is Ana from @SunriseValleyFarm. She’s been sharing so many fun Halloween and fall inspired things daily. These outdoor ghosts are super cute! Also check out her concrete pumpkins!!!

I love following Leslie from my 100 Year Old Home. Her and I both are loving the orange/pink color palette for fall and I love this pumpkin wreath DIY she created.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
