October happens to be National Book Month. So in the spirit of reading, I am sharing some of the best fall reads of 2025. There’s twisty thrillers, historical witch fiction, and cozy fall romance so no matter your fancy, there’s something on this list for everyone. Best Fall Reads of 2025

The First Witch of Boston by Andrea Catalano – I read this one in 2 days!! This is a great historical fiction piece for fall. Maggie Jones is a midwife and healer in Massachusetts during the Puritan times. But soon the community starts to turn against her and distrust her.

The Honeycrisp Orchard Inn by Valerie Bowman – If you loved The Pumpkin Spice Cafe last year, then this one is for you. Ellie is an event planner in the city and she returns to her family’s inn nestled in The Honeycrisp Orchard in Long Island to help them with their Harvest Festival. It is there that she meets the owner of the orchard’s son, Aiden. This is a cozy, sexy fall romance.

The Intruder by Freida McFadden – known for her twisty, suspenseful thrillers, this is the latest from Freida. Casey is hunkered up in her cabin as a storm rolls in, without power. But then she notices a light in her shed so she goes out to inspect and finds a young girl covered in blood.

The Wasp Trap by Mark Edwards – Six friends reunite in London to celebrate the life of their recently deceased ex-employer, a professor that brought them together in 1999 to help build a dating website based on psychological testing. But what is meant to be a night of bittersweet nostalgia soon becomes a twisted and deadly game. The old friends are given an ultimatum: reveal their darkest secrets to the group or pick each other off one-by-one. The reviews say this a twisty, locked room thriller.

If It Makes You Happy by Julie Olivia – The cover looks like the perfect Hallmark fall movie. The reviews say this is perfect if you’re looking for cozy, 90’s nostalgia fall vibes. Michelle is a divorcee’ and finds herself taking over a Vermont Bed and Breakfast and falling for her new neighbor, a hot single dad who owns the bakery in town.

The Academy by Elin Hildebrand and Shelby Cunningham – Our beloved Queen of the Beach reads has teamed up with her daughter Shelby to bring us this latest book. A scandalous story about a drama filled year at boarding school in New England.

We Love You Bunny by Mona Awad – This is the sequel to her first book Bunny but you can also read this by itself. This is dark academia piece, with hints of slasher mixed in. The “Bunnies” are a clique of women in the MFA program at Warren University. Samantha is on her book tour promoting her newest book which details the inner workings of The Bunnies. The “Bunnies” bound and gag Sam and each take turns holding the axe and telling their side of the story.

Gone Before GoodBye by Harlan Coben & Reese Witherspoon – Maggie is a brilliant surgeon with a wonderful family who soon finds her world flipped upside. Her mentor from medical school approaches her with a mysterious solution that soon has her flying on private jets and living in luxury but at what cost? This is supposed to be a thrilling page turner.

Remain by Nicholas Sparks and M. Night Shyamalan – The author of the Notebook and The Sixth Sense have collaborated to bring this supernatural love story. Tate was just recently discharged from a psychiatric facility and goes to The Cape to design his friend’s dream home. There he meets Wren and they have an immediate connection but he must help her discover her fateful past.

Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson – Jet is a young and rich with her whole life ahead of her. But then she is violently attacked, suffering a brain injury. The doctor gives her a week to live and she tries to solve her own murder. This sounds like a wild thriller.

Whether you’re looking for a suspenseful thriller, a murder mystery, witchcraft, or maybe a cozy love story with Hallmark vibes, I’m sharing some of my top picks that will have you turning the pages.

14 Books to Read This Fall 2024

1.) The Housemaid is Watching by Freida McFadden – This is the latest from Freida McFadden and the third installment in The Housemaid. Once a housemaid, the main character is now married and living in a charming cul-de-sac but can she trust her neighbors? This is a thriller that you won’t be able to put down from the Queen of the thrillers.

2.) The Last Witch in Edinburgh by Marielle Thompson – At a time when you can be hanged for being a witch, Nellie finds her power at the apothecary, honing her craft. But when a disaster strikes, Nellie is forced to flee and leave behind her life until two centuries later, she returns to fight the patriarchy.

3.) Rabbit Hole by Kate Brody – This one is set to be released October 29th, 2024. Teddy’s sister went missing 10 years ago. Now, that her father has killed himself, Teddy finds that her father was very active in online communities trying to find her sister and she begins to fall down the same rabbit hole.

4.) You Again by Kate Goldbeck – Doesn’t this cover just scream “When Harry Met Sally?” If you’re looking for a light hearted, romantic comedy, this is a cute one that follows Ari and Josh living in New York City.

5.) At The Coffee Shop Of Curiosities by Heather Webber – this one has been described as magical, and like a mug of hot chocolate giving you a hug. It’s got a cute charming town and a sweet story of female friendship. Maggie is the coffee shop owner in her small town and is trying to keep busy to keep her mind off of the loss of her mom. She befriends Ava and together the two women realize they may have been brought together for a reason.

6.) A Talent For Murder by Peter Swanson – Shortly after Martha gets married, she finds an odd streak of blood down the back of her husband’s shirts while he was away for work in Denver. Martha begins to do some research on the cities her husband has visited and finds five unsolved murder cases. Is she married to a serial killer?

7.) A Fire in The Sky by Sophie Jordan – Dragons, romance, and fantasy. Tamsyn is forced into an arranged marriage with a brute in order to save the princesses from danger. Meaning she has to leave behind her dear friend and someone she was developing feelings for. “Magic is not dead, it was only sleeping and it will take an ordinary girl with an extraordinary destiny to awaken it.”

8.) The Third Gilmore Girl by Kelly Bishop – Nothing is more fall than the Gilmore Girls. And Emily Gilmore herself, Kelly Bishop, tells her story in this personal memoir.

9.) The Last One At The Wedding by Jason Renulak – set to be released October 8th, 2024. I loved Hidden Pictures, and this is the latest one from the same author.

10.) The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young – June lives in a small mountain town on a flower farm in North Carolina where she knows that a curse has plagued her family and she is awaiting for it to affect her. She begins hearing and seeing things that were not there and sets out to try to end the curse once and for all.

11.) First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston – this one is a Reese’s Book Club pick. This has been described as a twisty, cat and mouse thriller full of surprises.

12.) The Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Laurie Gilmore – This one is on my list for the second year in a row and I’m finally reading it. The title is obvious why it’s a great pick for fall and this book has been all the rave on Tik Tok!

13.) Fall I Want by Lyra Parish – A cute fall love story about Autumn and Zane, with a little bit of spice, and fall vibes.

14.) Weyward by Emilia Hart – Lovers of historical fiction will gobble this one that combines witchcraft and fantasy.

Autumn is the perfect time to curl up under a warm blanket with a cup of coffee and nestle in with a good book. I’m sharing 15 books for your fall reading list. Whether you’re looking for a cozy feel good story, a fall romance, or maybe a darker, suspenseful thriller, there is something on this list for you. Here are 15 books to read this fall 2023. 15 Books To Read This Fall 2023

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna – This story is great if you are a fan of Practical Magic. The story follows, Mika one of the few only witches in Britain who has been forced to hide her magic and is an orphan. The characters are well developed and this is a heartwarming read.

A haunting on the Hill by Elizabeth Hand- If you loved The Haunting Of Hill House by Shirley Jackson or the Netflix series then this is a must read! A young playwright rents Hill House with her friends for her upcoming play. This is a great read for spooky season!

A Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham– The main character, Chloe had her own father sent to prison when she was young after he confessed for being involved in the cases of 6 missing girls. Now years later, Chloe is a successful psychologist getting ready to walk down the aisle when another young girl goes missing.

The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling– This is a cute, witchy love story with some spicy scenes. Years ago, the main character Vivi puts a curse on the man who broke her heart. But then, he comes back, as a Welsh hottie and there is undeniable chemistry. Grab a pumpkin spice martini and read alone 🙂

Final Girls by Riley Sager – Quincy becomes part of a group known as “The Final Girls” by the media after she goes on vacation with her friends and ends up being the only one alive. Years later, one of the girls in the group winds up dead, and the other ends up on Quincy’s doorstep forcing Quincy to relive those traumatic events that happened years ago.

Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak – Ok I finished this one in 2 days. Mallory is fresh out of rehab and takes a job as a nanny for a young boy, Teddy who loves to draw. Teddy’s drawings begin to get more and more dark and Mallory begins to think that there is a supernatural force at play and needs to save Teddy before it’s too late.

Haunting of Adeline (Cat and Mouse Duet) by H. D. Carlton- This one comes with a strong trigger warning. It is dark and touches on several sensitive topics and graphic sexual scenes. It was previously banned on Amazon so obviously I had to read it.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern – Two young magicians must battle it out but little do they know that there can only be one standing. However the duo soon finds themselves falling in love. The reviews on this one were mixed but if you like fantasy and magic this might be for you.

The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson – A story that weaves witchcraft, feminism, and religion. This would be great for fans of the Handmaid’s Tale.

The Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Laurie Gilmore – a cozy romantic mystery that takes place in a small town and the author’s last name is Gilmore. Say no more. Add this to your fall reading list especially if you’re a Gilmore Girls fan.

The September House by Carissa Orlando – Margaret and Hal are a married couple who just move into a beautiful Victoria house, what they think is their dream home. But suddenly they find out it’s haunted, and every September the ghosts that inhabit the home appear. Margaret is determined to stay as it is her house but her husband Hal suddenly leaves abruptly and can’t be contacted.

The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V. E. Schwab – Addie makes a pact on the eve of her wedding to live forever and ends up being cursed for 300 years with no one able to remember her. Centuries later, Addie falls in love with the owner of a book shop who has a story of his own.

The Only One Left by Riley Sager – This is Sager’s second book on this list. The premise of this one reminds me a little bit of the Amityville House. One night in 1929, a family is murdered in their house on the Maine coast. Lenora is the only one who makes it out alive and for years people assume she was the killer. Fast forward years later, Lenora is confined to a wheelchair and mute after a stroke. She decides that it’s finally time to tell her story to her nurse.

House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig – the reviews say this is equal parts gothic and fairytale and for those who loved the series Yellowjackets. Annaleigh lives in a manor by the sea called Highmoor with her eleven sisters. Sister after sister suddenly dies, and Annaleigh begins having visions that what may have been thought to be an accident maybe wasn’t at all.

The Cottage on Pumpkin and Vine by Kate Angell, Jennifer Dawson & Sharla Lovelace – The Cottage on Pumpkin and Vine is a cozy little B&B in Maine. This book interwines 3 stories of 3 couples who come to the B&B for their annual Halloween party.
