Sunflower season is upon us. And many of us are wondering where we can go and get some Instagram worthy photos frolicking in the flowers or perhaps family photos. I’ve done a little research and I’m sharing some spots where you can see sunflowers in the Capital District. (I’ve also linked my dress and headband below, both Amazon finds!)

Where to see sunflowers in the Capital District

Golden Acres Charolais Farm, Westerlo, NY – this was one of my favorite surprise finds last summer. (Closed for Summer of 2022 to allow rotation of their crops)

Bowman Orchards, Rexford, NY – Throughout August selling tickets for Sunflower blooms and butterflies. They also have fun farm activities for the little ones. offering blooms and butterflies.

Liberty Ridge, Schaghitocoke, NY – Now selling tickets for their Sunflower Festival. Admission includes access to the sunflower field, 1 free sunflower, live music, and the Barnyard Adventure full of activities and games for the kids.

Sand Flats Orchard, Fonda, NY – We just discovered this friendly family run farm this past weekend. You can visit their sunflower fields anytime during U-Pick season but they also are selling tickets for visiting during sunset.

Herrington’s Pumpkins, Buskirk, NY – This farm is near Rensselaer and has over 6 acres of sunflowers.  $5 per person and includes 3 stems.

Dino Roar Valley

Dino Roar Valley

Today we got to visit the brand new Dino Roar Valley in Lake George, NY. We are huge dino fanatics in our house so we were excited to check it out.

Dino Roar Valley

Dino Roar Valley features 20 life size dinosaurs that move and roar as you walk by. The tour is along a beautiful tree-lined pathway. It’s a nice, easy 1/2 mile walk and very stroller friendly. There’s also a spot for the kids to climb into a dino nest, dig for dinosaur fossils and attend a paleontologist workshop. It was a great experience and we had a blast.

On our way home we stopped at the Log Jam for lunch and then hit up some of the outlets for some shopping too.

If you’re looking for a little day trip, head up to Lake George and check out Dino Roar Valley. It opens this Memorial Day Weekend. It’s located right next to the Magic Forest where you can ride the ferris wheel and visit the petting zoo as well.
