Pumpkin bread bowl

I love soup season! Sometimes there’s nothing better than some homemade soup in a nice crusty bread bowl. So naturally in honor of fall and after seeing how much you loved the pumpkin baked brie, I had to make pumpkin shaped bread bowls.

Using a store bought dough makes it so easy! Literally thaw, shape and bake! This would also be a cute vessel for dips for Thanksgiving too! Scroll down to see how I made a pumpkin bread bowl.

How to make a Pumpkin Bread Bowl

You will need:

  • Frozen store bought dough
  • Egg
  • Twine

Start by thawing the dough. Take a large baking sheet, spray with cooking spray and place the loaves on the sheet. Next take a piece of parchment paper, spray with cooking spray, and place over the frozen dough, spray side down so that it doesn’t stick or make a mess.

Once the dough has thawed (about 2-3 hours), cut the loaves into halves and roll into a ball.

Now here is where you can learn from my mistakes-Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Cut 4 pieces of twine and lay out so that they look like spokes of a wheel. Place each ball of dough on top, and again cover with parchment paper sprayed with cooking spray, spray side down.

Allow the dough to rise for a few hours. (Originally I had allowed the dough to rise first and then tried wrapping with twine and it got messy).

Once the dough has risen, you are ready to shape your pumpkin bowls.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Bring up the sides of the twine and tie in the center so that it makes the shape of a pumpkin and gives you seams. Trim any excess twine.

Prepare an egg wash by cracking an egg in a bowl, add a splash of water and whisk completely.

Using a pastry brush, brush the dough with the egg wash.

Bake the dough for about 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Allow your pumpkins to cool briefly and then cut and remove the twine.

Use a knife to cut the tops off and scoop out some bread from the sides to make a larger vessel to hold your soup or dips.

Fill and serve!

Fall front porch decor that isn’t mums

Fall front porch decor that isn't mums

This post contains affiliate links

One of my favorite things to do in fall is decorate my front porch. I love front walkways filled with pumpkins in various colors, fall florals and greens. This year I decided to do something a little different and use all faux so no rotting pumpkins  Scroll down to see this year’s fall front porch decor that isn’t mums. I’ve got a DIY pumpkin topiary and a faux cabbage arrangement.

Tons of fall inspiration

Today I am teaming up with some blogger friends of mine to bring you some more fall inspiration for a Fall Is In The Air Blog Hop.  We’ve got tablescapes, mantle decor, fall hutch decor ideas and more ideas for your home so if decor is your thing, you’re going to want to tag along.

If you’re coming over from Kristy at Kristy Mastrondonas, welcome! I hope you will like it here and decide to follow along for more! Kristy definitely has an eye for decor and a way of bringing people together doesn’t she? Thank you for inviting me to participate in today’s party Kristy!

Pumpkin Topiary

There’s just something that I love about a pumpkin topiary. I’ve been looking at various ones but for a single stack it’s easily over $100. Perfect example, this one below for over $130.

So I decided to DIY a pumpkin topiary myself. I gathered some pumpkins in different colors and sizes and got to work!  I simply just pulled the stems off, added a ring of super glue and stacked each pumpkin on top.

This one topiary cost me about $54 to make, so I got two for still less the price of the one above! And the best part, it’s faux so it won’t rot. I can use year after year.

That’s a smart investment if you ask me 🙂

Faux Cabbage Arrangement

Ornamental cabbage or kale is so beautiful in baskets on the front porch. I did some real cabbage last year but of course, it didn’t last long. So I decided to search for some faux cabbage. Leave it to Amazon to pull through.

At first when I got these in the mail I wasn’t so sure.

But once you open them and fluff out the leaves it is so lush! And this basket is perfect!

Tip – I put some rocks in the bottom to weigh it down and clipped the bottom of the stem of cabbage so that it fits nicely.

Are you ready for an easy fall DIY? Today I’m showing you how I upcycled these pumpkins using hot glue and paint to make a cozy fall tablescape. Scroll down to see how I made these DIY hot glue painted pumpkins. And for more pumpkin inspiration, check out my friend’s posts below because we’ve got a pumpkin roundup!

The first leaf fell off the tree outside and Rick made fun of me because I started transforming our home into all things fall. This past weekend, I lit my fall candles, made a bundt cake and switched up our dining room decor for a fall tablescape. I found these faux pumpkins I had from last year. I wanted a little more of a muted neutral palette so decided to give them an upgrade with glue and paint. Here’s what I did.

You will need:

Using hot glue, I made a few little designs. I had some leftover split wooden beads from my DIY beaded wreath and added those as well. I let them dry completely before painting.

Then I painted them using acrylic paint. I did a total of 3 coats, making sure to get in all the nooks and crannies and allowing them to fully dry between each coat.

Look what a little glue and paint can do!!!
