It’s the first Nesting of 2023!

How is your year going so far? I have to be honest I have been slow to get back in the swing of things with blogging and just things in general around the house. I read this quote the other day and it perfectly summed up my feelings, “I’m wintering”. So I’m sharing here in case you’re feeling the same way and feeling guilty for being lazy. Give yourself some grace and allow yourself to go through the season of winter.

Wintering quote

We got the best news over the holidays and I can finally share! I found out I am going to be an auntie in June! There’s a new little boy joining the cousin crew! We couldn’t be more excited for my sister and brother in law! They are just the cutest.

Nesting on this last weekend before Christmas.

We are officially 1 week away!!! How are you doing with your holiday have-to’s?

I had taken the day off on Friday to get some last minute shopping and wrapping done but the boys had a snow day. So we watched movies, made this snow ice cream and had a hot cocoa bar instead.

So looks like I’ll be wrapping this week while the boy’s are in school 🙂

This weekend we made our annual homemade Irish cream and planned our Christmas menu. We make homemade Irish cream every year to sip on Christmas day and it also makes great gifts! Click here if you’d like the recipe.

I picked up this adorable sled at a local farm store last weekend. Isn’t it so cute? At first I had it by the fireplace but I think I like it better out front. What do you think?

Nesting on this cold Sunday in December.

We are officially 2 weeks away from Christmas!!! We’ve got breakfast with Santa this morning. Tis the time of year for all the fun Christmas festivities and trying to squeeze it all in.

Last weekend we took the kids to the Polar Express. It was adorable and I had tears in my eyes the entire time.  Does anyone else get like that when they do special things like this with their kids? It’s the best feeling.

Have you finished your Christmas shopping? I have a few more things to get. This was the top seller this week and makes a great gift idea!!!!

It was a fantastic week on the blog! Here’s what we talked about:

Has anyone watched the Harry & Meaghan documentary on Netflix? Part of me wants to watch it but some of the clips I’ve seen make me cringe. I just started the second season of The White Lotus on HBO and the new Wednesday on Netflix.

If you love memes, come on over to my Instagram stories tonight and every Sunday where I share some Sunday Funnies. Click here to follow me on IG.

Here’s some inspiration from some of my friends for your Sunday.

These adorable snowglobe cookies from my friend Jessica.

These ornaments from Leslie at My 100 Year Old Home. They would make cute gift toppers too!

Nesting on this first weekend in December.

We are now officially in the full swing of things for Christmas. Cue that little elf if that’s what you do, all the fun advent calendars and bucket lists.

My son reminded me our elf was due to return this week. And as much as I bad mouth that little guy (the elf not my son), it is worth it when you see how excited the kids get to see his return and find him every morning.

Another fun thing we do to countdown is this 12 Days of Christmas. It’s a fun way to do something special each day to get ready for the holidays.

12 days of Christmas ideas

We finally finished decking all the halls and I just had to show you our mantel this year. I found this mounted deer from Target and placed him inside a larger boxwood wreath I had to make it look a little more full. Then I strung some bells on twine and hung them on his antlers. The kids named him Buck and he may be my favorite thing.

I linked some of our decor in my LikeToKnowit.

Have you guys read anything good lately? I was looking for a wintery read and a few girls I follow on Bookstagram, @books.and.bulldogs and @bookswithbouffard recommended this one.

I can’t wait to read it, just downloaded it on my Kindle!
