Fall front porch decor that isn't mums

One of my favorite things to do in fall is decorate my front porch. I love front walkways filled with pumpkins in various colors, fall florals and greens. This year I decided to do something a little different and use all faux so no rotting pumpkins  Scroll down to see this year’s fall front porch decor that isn’t mums. I’ve got a DIY pumpkin topiary and a faux cabbage arrangement.

Tons of fall inspiration

Today I am teaming up with some blogger friends of mine to bring you some more fall inspiration for a Fall Is In The Air Blog Hop.  We’ve got tablescapes, mantle decor, fall hutch decor ideas and more ideas for your home so if decor is your thing, you’re going to want to tag along.

If you’re coming over from Kristy at Kristy Mastrondonas, welcome! I hope you will like it here and decide to follow along for more! Kristy definitely has an eye for decor and a way of bringing people together doesn’t she? Thank you for inviting me to participate in today’s party Kristy!

Pumpkin Topiary

There’s just something that I love about a pumpkin topiary. I’ve been looking at various ones but for a single stack it’s easily over $100. Perfect example, this one below for over $130.

Pumpkin topiary

So I decided to DIY a pumpkin topiary myself. I gathered some pumpkins in different colors and sizes and got to work!  I simply just pulled the stems off, added a ring of super glue and stacked each pumpkin on top.

This one topiary cost me about $54 to make, so I got two for still less the price of the one above! And the best part, it’s faux so it won’t rot. I can use year after year.

That’s a smart investment if you ask me 🙂

Faux Cabbage Arrangement

Ornamental cabbage or kale is so beautiful in baskets on the front porch. I did some real cabbage last year but of course, it didn’t last long. So I decided to search for some faux cabbage. Leave it to Amazon to pull through.

At first when I got these in the mail I wasn’t so sure.

But once you open them and fluff out the leaves it is so lush! And this basket is perfect!

Tip – I put some rocks in the bottom to weigh it down and clipped the bottom of the stem of cabbage so that it fits nicely.

How to create an easy fall table centerpiece

How to create an easy fall table centerpiece

Today I am showing you how to create an easy fall table centerpiece. Yesterday I switched up our dining room table decor. I was ready to add a few autumnal touches but didn’t want to spend any more money. So what did I do? I shopped my home. That’s right. I went around the house and gathered items that I already had and put together this easy fall table centerpiece.

I chose to go with cozy neutrals, and warm orange tones and I love the way it came out!

How to create an easy fall table centerpiece

Start by collecting your items. You will need a blanket, scarf or some other type of linen, a tray, candles, vases, faux flowers, and some pumpkins or pinecones, real or faux.

Start by laying out your linen. I used this simple neutral blanket.

Then place your tray or basket to collect all the decorative items.

Add your vases and faux florals, some candles and pumpkins or pinecones. The Dollar Store, Michaels, and Target Dollar Bin are some of my favorite places to find faux florals.

I love the soft glow from these amber vases with these long taper candles.

Patriotic Door Basket

Patrotic door basket

If you’re looking for a cute way to decorate your front door for the summer, this DIY Patriotic Door Basket is so simple and classic.  I like to switch up from front door decor from time to time and change from my wreath to a door basket. The thing I like about the door basket, is that you can switch out your flowers as the seasons change. (For more door basket ideas, click here to see this spring and Easter door basket).

Patriotic Door Basket

You will need:

Start by filling your basket with a filler. I like to use either plastic or paper bags that I have on hand.

Add your faux flowers. I used blue hydrangeas, some white smaller flowers and a few eucalyptus stems to add some greenery.

Stand your basket up or hang on door to add the flags so you can get a better idea of where they look best.

Hang using an over the door hook or a magnetic door hook.
