Friday Favorites July Edition

This post contains affiliate links meaning I make a small commission.

Happy Friday, and Happy last Friday of July! I can’t believe August will be here next week, this summer is flying by! It’s been awhile so I thought I’d do a Friday Favorites July Edition, with all the things I’m loving on this month!

If you’ve been following my Instagram, you know that the end of June we welcomed another sweet boy into our family, making us a party of 4.  So July was pretty much a whirlwind, learning how to juggle two kids and settling into our new routine. I will say, summer is the best time to have a baby! That sunshine has been great for the body and mind! So with that in mind, this month’s Friday Favorites are a mix of things to make momlife a little easier and summer stuff!

Friday Favorites July Edition

Dockatot – When I had my first babe, I had never heard of a Dockatot, let alone know what one was. He was an awful sleeper, unless we co-slept, which meant mama didn’t get any sleep which was horrible for my anxiety (see where this is going?). So when it came time for Baby #2, I did a little research and Dockatot was gracious enough to send me their product and let me tell you, it has been a God-send. This lounger recreates a feeling like baby is in the womb, making them feel snug and secure.  My little guy sleeps throughout the night and so does mama! It’s also great for travel. We take it with us everywhere, going to the pool, the drive-ins, and the beach. They also now have the option where you can get the cabana kit to shade your little one from the sun. I just got one and plan to use it when we go on vacation next week.

Shaker and Vine Wine Bar– This one is for all my followers who are local to the Capital District area. Schenectady has some really nice new restaurants and bars including this place which did not disappoint. My mom and sisters took me to Shaker and Vine for my birthday and it was fabulous! I mean who doesn’t love a waterfront, self serve wine bar? It’s a great place to go out with your girlfriends or for a nice little date night.

Amazon Bathing Suits – If you didn’t see my bathing suit try on in my Instagram stories last week, I’m linking them here.

I love this halter one piece by Cupshe.

I also bought this one piece with ruffle flounce top. It has a built in tummy control to help slim your midsection and easy removable straps.

Drive Up groceries to go – The thought of going to the market with a toddler and a newborn in tow makes me crazy.  Plus, in the summer, I’m all about simplifying things so that I have more time to spend outside with family and friends.  I started using grocery pickup towards the end of my pregnancy and its been so helpful while out on maternity leave.  It’s also a great way to save money because you can see how much your cart adds up to before clicking submit.  And when you’re not in the store, there’s no opportunity for impulse purchases.

Summer Beach Reads – Elin Hildebrand is by far my favorite author when it comes to picking summer beach reads. Most of her stories take place in Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard that make you feel like you’re right on the island. My top picks by her are Castaways and Summerland.

Friday Favorites – mules, easy dinner ideas and more decor!

This post contains affiliate links

Happy Friday friends!  This past weekend my baby turned 2 and we’ve been celebrating all week long! I also made a trip to Hobby Lobby and scored some really cute decor. First, let me take a step back. My sister was on the hunt for some decor for her bedroom so I tagged along with all intentions of window shopping and checking out their Christmas stuff. But I found some things I just couldn’t pass up.  I ended up restyling my built ins in the living room (I’ll share that in another post soon), and added some cute farmhouse decor to my kitchen which I’m sharing with you all today.

It’s been awhile since I did a “Friday Favorites” post so I thought I’d share some of the things I’m loving this week.

Mules-

mules shoes

I have never been a shoe fanatic. My super wide, flat 6 1/2s makes me dread shoe shopping. Until I discovered mules that is. They make you look instantly chic and are super comfy. And I think they’re the perfect shoe for the gal on the go or busy moms. Here are some of my favorite pairs (click images to bring you to the site!)

From Target

This fur pair from Lord & Taylor

Everyone needs a pair of leopard print shoes

Quick, easy dinners from Trader Joe’s –

Trader Joes frozen meals

So about once a week after I drop off the dude at school I like to hit up TJ’s. I don’t do all of my grocery shopping there but I love them for their frozen meals. They’re great for after working a 12 hour shift or sometimes if I just don’t feel like making dinner but I want to make a wholesome meal.  Our favorites are the mandarin chicken which I serve over some broccoli and brown rice. Or you can serve it with their frozen vegetable rice but sometimes I just eat that as is, it’s so good. And we also love their cheesy spaghetti squash casserole, and butternut squash mac and cheese!

Netflix documentary – The Staircase

Ok so if you don’t know by now, I love true crime documentaries.  I got hooked when I was home on maternity leave and that was all that was on TV.  I just started The Staircase on Netflix. It’s about a woman who was found at the bottom of the staircase in her house and it’s a matter of did her husband kill her or was it an accident? So good. My other favorite for anyone that has HBO is The Jinx. I watched that one in one day.

Blanket Scarves –

bean boots

I snagged this one this week. It’s so big and I love to wear it as a scarf or shawl.  Plus I think this flannel print is perfect for the fall and winter months.

Decorative trays –

farmhouse decor

I was looking to add a touch of farmhouse to my kitchen. I found this cute Thyme sign at Hobby Lobby. To give it a little height I picked up this tray, added a boxwood for some greenery, and then added some other stuff I had around the house. I love the way that a tray can pull together some little knick knacks and make it look a little more elegant. Plus you can change out some of the little elements for different seasons.

Hope you all have a great weekend! I would love to know some things you’re crushing on this week.

Friday favorites – Hunter boots at Target, Non-Candy Easter basket ideas and more

Happy Friday!!!! Who’s ready for the weekend? I know I am! So much happened this week. Anyone else still recovering from daylight savings?  My little dude started walking (yayyy!!!) and chasing him has become my new cardio so that’s a plus. Also we got pounded with what felt like 10 feet of snow, well not really, but I’m so ready for spring weather! Speaking of spring, I thought I’d do another Friday Favorites post and this one’s got spring in mind. I’m sharing ways to score a pair of Hunter boots from Target, a delish chocolate Guinness milkshake for St Patrick’s Day, some of my favorite non-candy Easter basket ideas and more!

So lets get to it with my Friday Favorites:
(Disclaimer-this post contains sponsored links)

1.) Hunter boots at Target –  If you didn’t already hear, Hunter boots are coming to Target! Yes that’s right, I’ll say it again, Hunter boots are coming to Target.  I have been dying to get a pair of Hunter boots but I could never justify the price. Well, now I can.

Hunter boots at Target

On April 14th, just in time for spring, Target will be releasing the brand Hunter for Target.  Hunter for Target will feature their famous boots as well as other apparel for the whole family at affordable prices.  The original wellies usually retail for $150 but you can grab them at Target for about $30! (Have I told you how much I love Target?)

Buuuttt, there is a but. This is a limited collection lasting from April 14-June 14 while supplies last. And we all know how popular these rain boots are.

So how can you score yourself a pair of Hunter boots from Target? Girl, I got you.

  • First, if you’re not a Target Red Card holder, get yourself one.  Red Card holders get early online access to the new brand starting on April 7th.  This is my recommendation. Not a Red Card holder? Apply here!
  • Secondly, run, don’t walk. Seriously. Scope out the closest Target store near you and make sure they’re going to be getting the brand and then get your booty in line.

2.) Chocolate Guinness Milkshake – Alright friends, Irish or not, St Patrick’s Day is tomorrow and I got the perfect drink for you! My Chocolate Guinness Milkshake is the perfect blend of chocolately stouty goodness.  Get the recipe

3.) Non-candy Easter basket ideas – No week is complete without a trip to Target and this week in the dollar bin I scored some cute stuff for my little one’s Easter basket. With Easter less than 3 weeks away, I shared some of my favorite Non-candy Easter basket ideas on the blog.  Check them out here

Not only is it so refreshing, I love how festive the bottle is, it’s perfect for bridal showers, bachelorette parties, or any occasion. And when you purchase a bottle, proceeds go to feed children in need through Why Hunger.
