Nesting on this gorgeous fall weekend in October
Oh my gosh what a week wasn’t it? From the downfall of Diddy and Hollywood to people finding rugs buried in their backyard, it’s been wild.
Rick and I celebrated 10 years married this Friday. Naturally we were at a Homecoming game with the kids and our friends and honestly, I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Have you guys seen the Ninja Slushi machine? I got one and I am obsessed! I’ve been sharing some of my recipes over on my Instagram.
Also doing a random poll – do you sleep with a top sheet? Growing up I always did, but now we never do. I feel like it’s just one more layer to get tangled in and I just don’t see the purpose. So it’s just a down comforter. But now I’m curious what you all do.
Here’s what’s been happening lately at the Nest:
I recently shared 6 fall planter ideas for your front porch. You can see them all here.
If you’re looking for a good book check out these 14 books to read this fall. There’s thrillers, cozy cute stories, romance and more.
The results are in and these were your top sellers on Amazon from September.
I shared this fun idea to booze your friends for Halloween. You can see my whole DIY and get my free printable. Drink up witches!
What I watched
Oh my gosh there’s so many good things on TV lately.
First of all, my favorite I think is “Nobody Wants This” with Kristen Bell and Adam Brody. It’s adorable, funny, and can we talk about how Adam Brody has aged like a fine wine? Something about him being a rabbi in this show just makes him more desirable.
And in case you’ve been living under a rock, on Netflix there’s Monsters: The Lyle & Erik Menendez story. I totally binged it in one day. And coming out this week October 7th, you can hear the brothers in their own words in a new documentary coming to Netflix.
I have gone down the Diddy rabbit hole and am just in complete shock over all of the allegations. If you’re looking for a little background into the investigation and what is going on this is a good summary.
What I’m reading
Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Laurie Gilmore – I was influenced by Booktok to read this one. It’s cute, definitely a little bit of a slower read but if you’re looking for cozy fall Gilmore Girl vibes check it out.
The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt – if you are raising kids now or work with children at all, this book is such an eye opener. I was able to take part in a discussion at our school regarding the themes in this book, overprotecting our kids in the real world, and underprotecting them in the technology world.
Amazon
Ok starting this week, October 8-9 is Prime Deal Days. I’ll be sharing some of my favorite deals throughout the sale over on my Amazon storefront so make sure you’re following me over there!
I’m also putting the finishing touches on the holiday gift guides which will go live Monday evening!
I am obsessed with this flannel poncho. It’s giving classy barn vibes and I’m here for it.
Also I need these sweatpants jeans.
Some of my favorite things I found on the web this week
How to decorate like Kathleen Kelly from “You’ve Got Mail.”
These homemade pumpkin spice marshmallows look divine.

My friend Jen makes the most incredible apple fritter monkey bread and you just have to try her recipe.

Isn’t this little DIY photo upgrade adorable for Halloween?

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Make sure you’re subscribed so you get those holiday gift guides right in your inbox Monday evening!

October 8, 2024 at 9:32 amHappy anniversary! My husband and I sleep with a top sheet– since blankets are much too warm for me lately! But none of my boys use top sheets at all.

October 11, 2024 at 9:50 amAhh! I followed the drama about the rug on TikTok. It has been wild. lol
Happy anniversary to you and your husband.
We don’t sleep with a top sheet here, I don’t think I have since I was a child. They seem a thing of the past now, old fashioned.
I am just about to start on the Lyle & Erik Menendez story and I am hooked on watching TikToks about all the Diddy things. It’s shocking!

October 12, 2024 at 4:55 pmEasier to wash the down comforters and blankets than it used to be! But still use sheets and change them periodically — all those shedding skin cells and yuck. And if somebody gets sick — sheets are easier to handle. Plus nothing like the feel of crisp clean sheets!
