Last summer was the summer of the Coastal grandmother aesthetic. This year Tik Tok is already calling it “The Tomato Girl Summer”. Scroll down to read how to live a tomato girl summer.
What is a tomato girl summer?
The tomato girl summer lifestyle is one that gets it’s inspiration from the Mediterranean. Think of a breezy, carefree lifestyle that exudes summer. It’s sipping an Aperol Spritz on the Almafi Coast or perusing the farmer’s market for fresh produce and then coming home to make a Caprese salad barefoot with the windows open. And while it may seem like everyone you know is vacationing in Europe, if that’s not in your plans, I’m sharing how you can live out your Tomato Girl or Mama Mia fantasy.
When I think of a tomato girl, Lucia from The White Lotus in Season 2 comes to mind. Bold, confident, carefree, her vibe is “Let’s Fun!”
Tomato Girl Summer Fashion
The tomato girl color palette is neutrals and bright bold colors like red, blue and terracotta. Think lightweight linens and ruffles with gold accents and rattan accessories. Breezy dresses, skirts, caftans and sandals with understated classic vintage jewelry are the vibe.
Makeup is kept neutral, with a clean complexion, some mascara, and a glossy bright lip, like you just bit into a juicy tomato or cherry.
I’m sharing some of my curated Tomato Girl Summer Fashion Picks below.

July 18, 2023 at 10:07 amI had not heard of this but it’s definitely my type of favorite summer! I actually just went to the farmer’s market last week and picked up some fresh tomatoes and have been eating some yummy salads. I do like that color palette too and might have to come up with some outfits based on it.

July 23, 2023 at 4:52 pmHow fun Nicolle, I guess I am living my best tomato girl summer this year. I do not normally take much time for myself, but I have a tan this year for the first time since I was 18! I am enjoying down time, relaxing in the sun, and lounging in the yard with our pup. Ohio weather has been exceptionally good this year which I am so thankful for. Thank you for sharing, now I know what to call my summer.
