Decorating with trays is one of my favorite ways to switch up the decor in my home. Sometimes you might also hear it referred to it as a vignette. Today I’m teaming up with 15 other bloggers to bring you some inspiration for creating your own winter wonderland on a tray. And a big thank you to Katherine from Katherine’s Corner for putting this together and inviting me!
If you’re coming over from Chloe from Celebrate and Decorate, welcome! I hope that you will stick around and come on over and follow me on Instagram!
Now how to create a winter tray
1.) Start by choosing your theme or look that you are going for.
My theme for decorating for the holidays this year was winter wonderland, with whites, greens, golds and snowglobes. (Speaking of snowglobes, I made the cutest snowglobe ornaments for the tree, you can see the DIY here). So I knew that I wanted my tray decor have the same neutral wintery feel. I especially love this theme as it is something that transitions nicely after the holidays and you can keep out during winter.
2.) Shop your home
I always start by going through my decor and shopping my home first and then selecting which items I want to use.
3.) Choose a focal piece.
Last year, I made the cutest little winter scene in a glass cannister and I loved the way it came out so I decided to do that again as my focal piece.
I filled my cannister with some sugar to make it look like snow. Then I added my little ceramic house and a bottle brush tree.
4.) Group items of different heights
Since the cannister was short, I used this reindeer statue to add some height.
4.) Add some greens.
I always add a touch of greens, whether real or faux to soften it up a bit. I love this faux tree I picked up at our local garden center. I added a sprig of faux holly and pinecones too!
And then I added the beaded garland for some texture and I think it just adds some fun.
Super simple and it’s something I can leave out all winter long!
