Nursery Reveal

I’m so excited to finally share Mav’s Nursery Reveal on the blog! Let me just say, that this process made it completely evident how things change after your first baby. When we were pregnant with Dude (we didn’t know he was a dude at the time), we had the nursery all set and were prepared well before his arrival. He ended up never sleeping in it (we coslept and then we moved), but it was my favorite room in the house and we would often play in there. This time around, I was in no rush because I knew we had time. And then once he came, life got crazy with the two (you can follow our story on Instagram here.) But I finally got around to finishing all the details and adding some personal touches.

You can shop by clicking the thumbnails below the photos or the links at the bottom.

And be sure to check out my Etsy shop for some cute personalized nursery decor.

As soon as we found out it was a boy, I knew that I wanted to give the nursery a modern, monochromatic look.  I off-set the black and white with some earth tones and greens.

Spearmint Love is a small shop I found on Instagram. They have tons of unique crib sheets in all different prints and colors. (I’ve linked Mav’s sheets all the way at the bottom).

The dressers were my grandparents. They were originally oak with gold hardware. We painted it white and then bought the black knobs off of Amazon.

La-Z Boy Petmate Collection

La-Z Boy Petmate Collection
This post is sponsored by La-Z Boy but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

La-Z Boy now has their own pet collection so you can truly pamper your pooch in style.  And even better, their pieces will look good in any room in your home.

If you’re like me, you work hard to give your dog (and your kids) a better life. And if your furbaby is anything like mine, they spend the majority of their day lounging around so obviously we want them to be comfortable. So when I heard that La-Z Boy was coming out with a pet collection, I knew I had to try it out.

A little back story…

My husband surprised me one year for my birthday by getting me our dog Lola. We were newly engaged and just moved into our first home and I had been wanting a furbaby of my own.  Lola was our “furst born” as I like to say. From the very first night we brought her home, she slept with us in our bed, although my husband was reluctant (he didn’t really have a choice haha).  A few years ago, Lola suffered a tragic spinal cord injury that resulted in extensive back surgery and physical therapy. She luckily made a miraculous recovery but since then we’ve had to restrict her activity a bit. So with everything that she’s been through, I only give my sweet girl the best!

Although Lola can no longer sleep with us, she still sleeps in our room. The La-Z Boy Lakewood Lounger is a beautiful addition to our bedroom with it’s tufted design. There’s plenty of room for Lola to curl up for a snooze, or sprawl out and soak up the sun streaming through the window. I always say, “She didn’t choose the Pug Life, the Pug Life Chose Her.” And the quality fabric makes it durable and easy to clean.

Pet furniture that looks great in your home, cleans easily and is comfortable for your pets is a win-win in my book!

Spring Porch Refresh

This post contains affiliate links meaning I make a small commission.

Spring is here and I have been itching to start decorating! To me, I love a well decorated front porch, it gives such a great first impression. This time of year, I feel like the exterior of my home always needs a little pick me up after the cold winter. So I decided to do a little Spring Porch Refresh, adding some fresh greens and pops of color.  I’m sharing the details of my spring porch decor below plus, I’ve teamed up with some other bloggers to give you some extra inspiration!

And as always, I’ve linked most of the products so that you can shop them too, because sharing is caring.

To shop just click the thumbnail below my photo

Here is my Spring Porch Refresh

I started with my welcome mat. I layered it with this blue striped mat to give it another element of color and make it pop against the blue.

I love this magnolia wreath for the spring and summer months.

I had been looking for a way to add some different dimensions and wanted a vertical sign for the porch. A local shop in my hometown called The Familiar Farmhouse made this welcome sign for me. I gave it a coat of poly so that it could stay outside and sustain the weather.

I am all about faux flowers for outside. I used to get fresh potted plants every year but let’s be honest – I’m good at keeping my kids and my patients alive. Flowers and plants on the other hand, not so much. I got these pots and faux greenery/fleurs from Afloral and honestly you could never tell the difference. I painted the pots this blue color, it’s called Crashing Waves by Behr.

Easy Modern Farmhouse Bathroom update

I’m so excited to FINALLY share with you guys the details of our Modern Farmhouse Master Bathroom update! (I had all intentions of getting this up sooner, but ya know, life.)

So when we first moved in to our new house, I loved that we had a master bath. It needed some work, but being that we just did a huge bathroom renovation at our previous home, and expecting a baby, we put it off.

One weekend after watching Marie Kondo, I was going through our house on a whirlwind. I mean I literally ripped through every room. I stepped into our bathroom, and well, one thing led to another.  We (I say “we” but I mean “me) decided to do a quick little bathroom update for just under $200.

This is what it looked like before.

It wasn’t terrible, but it needed a little refresh.

  • First thing I did was pull out this shelving unit over the toilet and paint. The color we chose was Sherwin Williams Passive Gray. I love this color because it has a nice cool tone to it. I wanted something very airy and clean looking with some touches of rustic/earthy elements to it for a modern farmhouse feel.
  • Next, we painted the bathroom vanity. Our vanity takes up a great deal of space in our bathroom.  To give the space a brighter look I decided to transform it by painting it white and then doing the hardware darker to give it some contrast. For the cabinets we used Rust-oleum cabinet transformations kit in pure white (we had some left over from our DIY distressed bedroom furniture we did in the fall).

  • Our shower is the main focal point of our bathroom. I desperately wanted to get rid of the glass shower door but because there was no tub, and we were just looking to do a quick weekend update, I left it. Instead, I put up a cute shower curtain to cover the glass door to dress it up a little.

I love the way it came out and for a little under $200, it looks like a totally different space! Not bad for a weekend 😉
